Mobil 1/RAC British Rally Championship 1997
To all Drivers, Co-Drivers and Manufacturers registered for the 1996
Mobil 1/Top Gear British Rally Championship and those who have
expressed interest in the 1997 British Rally Championship
Details of the 1997 Championship are contained in the enclosed
leaflet.
I hope you will be able to support the Championship next year.
Innovations
Pirelli and Stena Line Ulster Rallies will offer Championship points
scoring in EACH leg.
Entrants who retire on the first leg will - providing the car is in a
condition acceptable to the scrutineers - be able to re-start the
second leg in seeded order. Entrants who retire on the second leg
will retain any points achieved on leg 1.
From five events there will now be seven rounds, with the best five
scores to count.

The Vauxhall Rally of Wales will start and finish in South Wirrall.

The Pirelli Rally will have new Headquartes, the Swallow Hilltop
Hotel, Carlisle (south of City Centre)

The Scottish Rally is expected to move from Perth to Southern
Scotland in a bid to reduce road mileage, improve stage quality and
present a more compact event.
British Junior Championship
The 1997 British Junior Championship will be for all drivers under 27
years of age on 1.1.97 driving ANY make of two wheel drive, Group N
car up to two litres.
The top three Championship finishers will be offered a free entry and
accommodation to take part in the Helsinki-based final round of the
Finnish Championship in October.

This year's video covers all five Championship rounds and features
material - particularly of private entrants - not previously
broadcast.
The tape retails at £12.99 but is available to registered
Championship contenders at £10.75 (which includes 93p 1st class
postage).
If you would like a copy (or copies) please send a cheque payable to
JHMM. We will despatch all videos on the day payment is received.
If you have contested ALL the Championship rounds and are NOT
featured on the tape we'll accept the tape back and give you a full
refund.
Autosport International, NEC Birmingham 9th - 12th January
The British Rally Championship will be represented at the Autosport
International Show.
1997 Championship Regulations
