Foreword from Richie Holfeld - Chairman, BTRDA Rallies Committee

After the undoubted success of the 1998 BTRDA Rally Series, the two championships will be enhanced with the additon of an extra event. Competitors will be faced with the choice of selecting which events or region from the ten top quality rallies, to score points on.

The format of the Silver Star and Gold Star Championships has proven popular with increased competitor participants last year. The categories, classes and rewards have been reviewed and expanded for the new season.

The BTRDA are very grateful for the continued sponsorship of Peugeot Sport for the Gold Star Championship and Clear System Solutions for the Silver Star Championship. We acknowledge the contribution, support and generous bonus schemes offered by various trade suppliers on all Championship rounds.

And for all competitors, you have the best run, and most competitive rally championship in the UK to compete in.

The BTRDA Rally Series

Regulations

  1. The BTRDA Ltd. will promote the BTRDA Rally Series consisting of the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship and the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship. Permit Number 99R 5350 has been issued.
  2. The Series is open to fully paid up members of the BTRDA Ltd. only. Acceptance for the Series will be acknowledged by the issue of a registration card which must be produced at documentation on each event.

Drivers can register for either the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship or the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship but cannot score points for both championships on any one event.

In order for either to score points both must be registered for the Series and must register with the BTRDA representative at each event. However after Round 5 of the Series registered drivers and co-drivers may compete individually and still be eligible to score points.

Championship results and bulletins containing details of any changes in the Championships will be sent to registered competitors at intervals throughout the year.

  3. The Series will consist of ten qualifying events. A competitor's best six scores from the first nine qualifying events that he, or she starts will count. In the event of the number of events being changed then the number of scores to count may also change.
  4. Championship registration does not guarantee an entry to the qualifying events and BTRDA Ltd. cannot enter into any correspondence or discussion on the matter of event entries or event seeding. However Championship events have agreed to consider any fully completed entries from BTRDA registered competitors provided they are received one month before the date of the event.
  5. All vehicles used by registered contenders may be subject to random capacity and eligibility checks throughout the year. These checks will be carried out by the Series Scrutineer and/or members of the MSA Technical Commission who shall be considered Judges of Fact in matters of eligibility. In the event of a car being found ineligible for any reason, then the penalties specified in the MSA Regulations shall apply. The competitor will be responsible for any costs he incurs as a result of eligibility checking, whether found eligible or otherwise.
  6. The Event organisers will appoint Judges of Fact to adjudicate on any instances of instantaneous factual occurrences or any other abnormal sound levels. They will then report their findings to the Chief Scrutineer of the Event who will advise the Clerk of the Course who will apply the appropriate penalty. Competitors should pay particular heed to MSA Yearbook clauses C.11 and C.12.2.
  7. Competitors must display the decals supplied by the BTRDA Ltd., on all qualifying events. These will include championship sponsors plus Mintex and Motoring News.
  8. Any ties will be decided in favour of the competitor with the greatest number of maximum scores in their best six scores in the Series. In the event of a further tie the greatest number of second highest scores shall decide and so on. Should this fail to resolve the tie then reference will be made to the scores gained on ALL the qualifying rounds. If this fails to resolve the tie then joint awards will be presented to the competitors concerned.
  9. The Series is subject to the General Competition Rules of the BTRDA Ltd. and the MSA. Any query concerning these regulations or the running of the Series must be referred to the BTRDA Rallies Committee via the Championship Co-ordinators. Any subsequent protest must be referred in writing to the BTRDA panel of stewards via the General Secretary with time limits in accordance with the MSA Year Book.
  10. In the event of a variance between these BTRDA Rally Series Regulations and the BTRDA Championship Rule Book, these Rally Series Regulations take precedence.
