BTRDA Rally Series 1999

Competitors Bulletin No 11 - October 1999

Well, the Conwy Honda Cambrian Rally turned out to be an excellent event on which to bring the BTRDA Rally Series to a close - not only did the Gold & Silver Star Championships remain undecided until the last gasp but the leaders of both prior to the trip to North Wales will not need reminding that it was not to be their day either! Hearty congratulations from all at the BTRDA go out to Brian Bell & Paul Spooner (Clear System Solutions Silver Star Champion Driver & Co-driver) and Nik Elsmore & Ian Oakey (Peugeot Sport Gold Star Champion Driver & Co-driver) for their superb performances during the year. After his Escort WRC went up in smoke on the Woodpecker, Brian must have thought that he stood no chance of taking the title. Commiserations, too, to Ian Joel, Theo Bengry & Martin Meadows - so near, and yet ... - but thanks are due, not only to them, but also to everyone who has supported the BTRDA Rally Series during 1999. It's been another tremendously competitive season - something that no organiser can engineer! - and we hope that you have enjoyed yourselves and that we shall see many of you back, doing what you do best, in the next Millenium! ...

Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship Loyalty Bonuses: All those Silver Star competitors who have started eight, or more, events this year qualify for a loyalty award - a long-sleeved casual shirt with an embroidered Championship logo.
