Congratulations to Martin Meadows who emerged from the dust on the Quinton Stages Rally to take his third maximum score of the season and increase his lead at the head of the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship points table. Nik Elsmore, meanwhile, saw his recent monopoly of maximum scores come to an abrupt halt just 500 yards into the first stage of the rally and now has it all to do on the final two rounds if he is to end the season as Adam Kent's successor as Gold Star champion.
Gilly Handley's excellent season continues - following the Quinton she is second overall in the Gold Star points and, what with Meadows' Proton Compact and her Vauxhall Corsa, we have two 1600 cc cars showing the others how it's done!
In the race for the Silver Star title, defending champion Theo Bengry posted his first maximum of the season and, although currently in a lowly seventh, is now handily placed to retain the Clear Systems Silver Star crown - provided, that is, that he puts in good results on the final two rounds. However, there are several other drivers intent on making sure that the trophy does not stay in Leominster - perhaps its eventual destination will become clearer after te Woodpecker.
Jon Ballinger and Simon Rogers are neck-and-neck for the 'Two-Wheel Drive Challenge' but it was Robin Bradbury who muscled in on the action to beat them both on the Quinton. In fact, should he take maximum scores on the final two rounds, he could pull the rug from under the feet of the pair of them. There's £500 riding on it, anyway!
