Foreword from Richie Holfeld - Chairman, BTRDA Rallies Committee

The 1999 BTRDA Rally series was only decided on the last event, we congratulate Brian Bell in securing the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship and Nik Elsmore in winning the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship.

It is satisfying to note that the 10 events proved most popular with the 361 registered competitors, the largest number for many years giving credence to the claim that the BTRDA Rally Series is the most successful in the UK. For 2000 competition has been further enhanced with the introduction of the Dunlop Two Wheel Drive Challenge Cup and the new Clear System Solutions Team Challenge.

The BTRDA continue to rely on generous funding from Peugeot Sport and Clear System Solutions, and acknowledging the bonus schemes offered by various trade suppliers and Initiative 2000, the series prize fund and bonuses now exceed £30,000 in value.

The Rallies Committee Members wish all competitors safe and successful Millennium motoring in the 2000 season.

Foreword from Mick Linford - Motorsport Manager, Peugeot Motor Company plc.

One thing has not changed for the Millennium and that is Peugeot Sport's continued support for the BTRDA Gold Star Championship. In 1999 the BTRDA gave the clubmen their best value for money rallying on some of the top events in the country, and with their proven format and with some exciting innovations, I know that 2000 will be even better.

We are delighted yet again to be associated with the Gold Star and for those of you rallying Peugeot 106 and 306 models we will continue to operate our £500 per round bonus scheme, plus the end of year prizes.

With the large number of entries in BTRDA the competition in all the classes is the fiercest of all the national rally series and so gives you the opportunity to enjoy the championship as a stepping stone to greater things or just to have great fun.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a successful and enjoyable season.

The BTRDA Rally Series

Regulations

  1. The BTRDA Ltd. will promote the BTRDA Rally Series consisting of the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship and the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship. Permit Number 2000R 5350 has been issued by the Motor Sports Association.
  2. The Series is open to fully paid up members of the BTRDA Ltd. only. Acceptance for the Series will be acknowledged by the issue of a registration card which must be produced at documentation on each event.

Drivers can register for either the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship or the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship but cannot score points for both championships on any one event.

In order for either member of the crew to score points both must be registered for the Series. However after Round 5 of the Series registered drivers and co-drivers may compete individually and still be eligible to score points.

Championship results and bulletins containing details of any changes in the Championships will be sent to registered competitors at intervals throughout the year.

  3. The Series will consist of ten qualifying events. A competitor's best six scores from the first nine qualifying events that he, or she starts will count. In the event of the number of events being changed then the number of scores to count may also change.
  4. Championship registration does not guarantee an entry to the qualifying events and BTRDA Ltd. cannot enter into any correspondence or discussion on the matter of event entries or event seeding. However Championship events have agreed to consider any fully completed entries from BTRDA registered competitors provided they are received one month before the date of the event.
  5. All vehicles used by registered contenders may be subject to random capacity and eligibility checks throughout the year. These checks will be carried out by the Series Scrutineer and/or members of the MSA Technical Commission who shall be considered Judges of Fact in matters of eligibility. In the event of a car being found ineligible for any reason, then the penalties specified in the MSA Regulations shall apply. The competitor will be responsible for any costs he incurs as a result of eligibility checking, whether found eligible or otherwise.
  6. The Event organisers will appoint Judges of Fact to adjudicate on any instances of instantaneous factual occurrences or any other abnormal sound levels. They will then report their findings to the Chief Scrutineer of the Event who will advise the Clerk of the Course who will apply the appropriate penalty. Competitors should pay particular heed to MSA Yearbook clauses C.11 and C.12.2.
  7. Competitors must display the decals supplied by the BTRDA Ltd., on all qualifying events.
  8. Any ties will be decided in favour of the competitor with the greatest number of maximum scores in their best six scores in the Series. In the event of a further tie the greatest number of second highest scores shall decide and so on. Should this fail to resolve the tie then reference will be made to the scores gained on ALL the qualifying events. If this fails to resolve the tie then joint awards will be presented to the competitors concerned.
  9. The Series is subject to the General Competition Rules of the BTRDA Ltd. and the MSA. Any query concerning these regulations or the running of the Series must be referred to the BTRDA Rallies Committee via the Championship Co-ordinators. Any subsequent protest must be referred in writing to the BTRDA panel of stewards via the General Secretary with time limits in accordance with the MSA Year Book.
  10. In the event of a variance between these BTRDA Rally Series Regulations and the BTRDA Championship Rule Book, these Rally Series Regulations take precedence.

This new initiative is open to all crews who register for the 2000 BTRDA Rally Series. Teams will be eligible to score points on any of the 10 BTRDA events with the best team score from 6 events counting towards the final classification.

Teams must register with the BTRDA Championship co-ordinator before points can be scored. The team classification on an event will be based on the total number of finishers; e.g. on an event with 94 finishers a crew coming third overall would be awarded 92 marks and crew finishing 81st would get 14 marks. The total team marks will be added up and the team with the highest score will receive 30 points, the second team 28 points, the third team 27 points, down to 1 point for the 29th placed team.
