BTRDA Rally Series 2000

Competitors Bulletin No 4 - March/April 2000

Congratulations to Michael Watson on taking his second maximum score in the Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship on the North Humberside Forest Rally. His retirement on the Wyedean Forest Rally sees him currently down in fourth place in the overall table but he knows that, as the season moves on and dropped scores come into play, the work he has already done could well pay dividends. Pete Litler, endeavouring to become the first driver in modern times to win both Gold and Silver Star titles, still leads the category after three second-place scores and, with Ian Joel and Martin Healer also pitching in there, a good scrap is on the cards!

The Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship, meanwhile, sees Charlie Exton at the helm. His Honda Integra holds a slender one-point lead over the Escort RS2000 of Rob Palmer but it was Martin Sansom who stole their thunder on the North Humberside. He became the third different driver in three events to take maximum points in his Peugeot 106 showed the others the way home.

The fourth round of the BTRDA Rally Series is the Gliddons Somerset Stages Rally which takes place on Saturday 15th April. Regulations for the Minehead-based event are still available from George Mullins - Tel: 01749 673503.

The BTRDA Rally Series then reaches the halfway mark with the running of the TLS Plains Rally on Saturday 6th May. Regulations should have been sent to you but, if you require further information, Alan Smith - Tel: 01204 840664 - is the Entries Secretary.

Richard Pashley, who partnered Gilly Handley to considerable success in her Vauxhall Corsa over the past few seasons, is now available to contest the remainder of this year's Championship. He can be contacted on 0114 222 2140 (d) or 0114 231 5241 (n).

For those of you who require a co-driver, Glyn Williams holds a database of people who are prepared to let you scare them. Ring him on 01495 308363.
