BTRDA Rally Series 2000

Competitors Bulletin No 2 - February 2000

Andy Burton has started his season off in the best possible way by winning the Wyedean Forest Rally. The former Silver Star champion's Peugeot Cosworth was plagued by clutch problems for much of the day and victory came at the end of what had been very much of an uphill struggle - in more ways than one!

Martin Meadows set off in search of that elusive Gold Star title and he, too, cam away from Chepstow with a maximum score under his belt. However, mention must be made of David Nutt whose Peugeot 106 was leading Meadows' Proton before an accident put him out of the running.

97 BTRDA registered crews started the Wyedean, various of which have registered for the new Clear System Solutions Team Challenge. It's FREE to enter and there are £2000 worth of cash prizes on offer at the end of the season. Each team's best six scores count towards their final tally and the leaders after the opening encounter call themselves Oh Dear! Messrs Smith, Healer & Davies find themselves in that position by dint of the fact that they were the only ones to get all three cars to the finish! Andy Burton, Adrian Struthers & Dick Archer (The 1st Stagers!) are second but, no doubt, more of you will register on the Malcolm Wilson Rally.

The Wyedean Forest Rally was celebrating its 25th Anniversary and Phil Turley has been Clerk of the Course for every one! At the post-event Awards Ceremony. he was presented with a memento to recognise this considerable achievement - and has vowed to be back at the helm for the 26th which is scheduled for 3rd February 2001!

The BTRDA Rally Series is already gathering momentum - the regulations for the second round - the Malcolm Wilson Rally on 3/4th March have been available for a while but, should you still require a set, Ian Wright is 'yer man' - Tel: 01524 824626.

Regulations for the North Humberside Forest Rally - Saturday 25th March - have also been distributed to all those on the 2000 BTRDA mailing list - and those for the Somerset Stages are not far behind! ...

Decals (or stickers, as we call them in the Midlands!) - please remember that both Peugeot Sport Gold Star and Clear System Solutions Silver Star Championship decals should be positioned on each front door panel immediately below the glass. Event decals and competition numbers should then be below them.

Initiative 2000 - BTRDA Championship Bulletin No. 1 implied, incorrectly, that onbly cars contesting the Silver Star Championship were eligible. It is, in fact, the case that any car - whether homologated or not - is eligible as long as it is two-wheel drive, up to 2-litre and conforms to the relevant technical regulations. Once again it is FREE to enter and details are available from Richard Egger - Tel: 0115 941 5255. It will also be possible to register at signing-on for the Malcolm Wilson Rally.

The very first winners of some cash, courtesy of Initiative 2000, were Martin Meadows (£100), Dave Howells (£75) & Reg Davies (£50) for their efforts on the Wyedean.
