The winner of the 2006 Wold Construction North Humberside Forest Rally, STEVE PETCH (Richmond), has entered this year's event, which takes place on Saturday 31st March, in a Hyundai Accent WRC.
With co-driver MICHAEL WILKINSON, Petch's main focus this year is the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge which carries a first prize of a fully-funded 'works' Mitsubishi drive on the 2008 British Rally Championship. However, his win on last year's North Humberside ranks as the biggest victory of the 23-year old driver to date, and he will be keen to repeat the exercise this time.
The event is the third round of the Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series and, following a recent visit to the forests of the Lake District, North Walian HUGH HUNTER and co-driver ANDY MARCHBANK top the points table in their Ford Escort World Rally Car by the smallest of margins from West Auckland-based TRISTAN PYE in his Group N 'production' specification Subaru Impreza.
Meanwhile, PETER EGERTON (Ringwood, Dorset) will be using the stages on the North York Moors as a means of kick-starting his season. An accident on the opening round of the series in the Forest of Dean severely damaged his Hyundai Accent and precluded his participation in the recent Malcolm Wilson Rally.
