North Humberside Forest Rally 2008

Press Release 2

4th March 2008

The organisers of the NORTH HUMBERSIDE FOREST RALLY (Saturday 29th March), North Humberside Motor Club Ltd, are well used to welcoming sons of famous fathers to their event - MATTHEW CLARK (whose late father, Roger, won the RAC Rally in 1972 & 1976) was victorious in 1996, while STEPHEN PETCH (son of North Yorkshire motor trader Steve who won the event himself back in 1993) steered his Hyundai Accent WRC to the winning post in 2006.

As preparations for the 2008 rally gather momentum, one of the early entries received is that of ROBERT BROOKES (Evesham) in a VW Lupo. Robert's father, Russell, will need no introduction to rally fans, having won the British Rally Championship on two occasions and, in the process, maintaining one of the most enduring sponsor/driver partnerships ever to be seen in this branch of the sport. The name of 'Andrews Heat for Hire' was inextricably linked to Russell's rallying activities for the best part of two decades, proving to be a mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties.

Robert is contesting 'Rally First', the new British Trial & Rally Drivers' Association (BTRDA) initiative designed to attract new drivers into the sport in standard cars up to 1400cc, thereby keeping costs to a minimum.
